Companie des Autobus de Monaco
Presentation
Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco (CAM) embodies the Principality's commitment to sustainable, connected and forward-looking mobility. Founded in 1939, CAM is Monaco's historic urban transport operator. It has constantly evolved to meet the growing needs of residents and visitors, while anticipating the environmental challenges of modern mobility.
From the 1980s onwards, the network was gradually extended, with the addition of regular lines covering the entire Monegasque territory. A forerunner in the field of energy transition, CAM was one of the first companies to integrate electric and hybrid vehicles into its fleet, reinforcing its role as a pioneer in ecological transport.
In 2024, it launched several innovative initiatives: the X1 to X4 express lines, designed to reduce journey times between major districts, and ClicBus, an on-demand transport service for narrower or under-served areas, to guarantee accessible and flexible mobility. These systems work in conjunction with the PACA region's park-and-ride facilities and TER services, facilitating incoming traffic while reducing congestion in the city center.
CAM's techno-green commitment is also illustrated by its participation in the development of MonaBike, the self-service electric bicycle service co-managed with the Direction de l'Aménagement Urbain, and the Bateau Bus, an electric maritime shuttle linking the two shores of Port Hercule. These complementary offers reinforce a multimodal, fluid and environmentally-friendly approach.
As a cornerstone of Monaco's Mobility Plan, CAM plays a central role in building a connected, inclusive and sustainable territory, symbolizing the Principality's desire to combine quality of life with ecological performance.
