Fourrière de Monaco: Managing parking and traffic flow in the Principality
The Fourrière de Monaco is a public service under the authority of the Direction de la Sûreté Publique, reporting directly to the Monegasque Ministry of the Interior. Its mission is to guarantee the fluidity and safety of road traffic in Monaco by removing, temporarily storing and returning vehicles that are poorly parked or present a danger to public safety.
Given the Principality's small territory and high urban density, rigorous management of vehicle parking is essential. The Fourrière de Monaco therefore plays a key role in maintaining public order on the roads, systematically intervening in cases of obstructive, abusive or dangerous parking. Interventions can also be made to meet the specific needs of particular events, such as public works, official ceremonies or other events requiring certain lanes to be cleared.
The vehicle removal and return process is governed by strict regulations. When a vehicle is identified for impoundment, prior notice is usually given to the owner. If the owner fails to appear promptly or to pay the corresponding fine, the vehicle is towed away. To recover the vehicle, the owner must pay the impoundment fee and present the required proof of ownership.
To avoid any inconvenience, we strongly recommend that you scrupulously observe local parking regulations. Systematically checking road markings, respecting reserved parking zones, and promptly settling any fines received are essential measures to prevent impoundment.
As the guarantor of traffic fluidity and safety in the Principality, the Fourrière de Monaco works closely with the road authorities and local police to ensure an orderly and safe urban environment, for the benefit of all residents and visitors.
